Italian food is often voted the world’s most-loved cuisine, which is no surprise when you consider the country has gifted us pasta, pizza, gelato and parmesan cheese, to name but a few gastronomic treasures.

Italian cuisine is also the perfect holiday food, whether you’re feeling hungry for fresh seafood fritto misto, are in the mood for tender steak tagliata, or want to indulge in a huge portion of cheese-laden carbs. And when you’re sailing with Princess, you don’t even have to be visiting Italy to enjoy the best of the country’s food offerings – we’ve got it all onboard! Here’s where to get your fix of Italiano fare on the Princess fleet…

A bowl of pasta in Sabatini's

At Sabatini’s trattoria

Book a table at Sabatini’s to be immersed in an Italian dining experience so authentic, you’ll be craving a limoncello by the end of it. This speciality restaurant serves up antipasti (hello, burrata caprese!), fresh pasta dishes like penne with short rib and seafood spaghetti, and luxurious main courses such as ossobuco Milanese. Many of Princess’ executive chefs are Italian and they’ve proudly provided their own family’s recipes to make Sabatini’s menu extra special. Naturally, the wine list is bursting with fine Italian options, but why not kick things off with a negroni sbagliato.

At World Fresh Marketplace

Comfort food from all over the world is available round the clock at World Fresh Marketplace (or Horizon Court), our complimentary buffet restaurant. Perfect for a casual bite to eat, it offers hot favourites such as macaroni cheese, pasta Bolognese and minestrone soup on most itineraries. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the Italian-themed evenings here, too, when you’ll find dishes like roasted pork, lasagne and tiramisu on the menu. Squisito!

Slice pizza Princess Cruises

At Slice

It’s hard to go wrong with pizza, but the pies at our poolside venue, Slice, have been called the ‘best pizza at sea’ by USA Today, which means they’re really something special. Our freshly made Neapolitan-style bases are served as margheritas or with the addition of daily changing toppings. Drop in as often as you like – the pizzas are complimentary and always fresh from the oven.

At Alfredo’s and Gigi’s pizzerias

Not content with already serving the ‘best pizza at sea’ at Slice, we’ve teamed up with chef Tony Gemignani – 13-time World Pizza Champion – to create five irresistible pizzas for our casual eateries, Alfredo’s and Gigi’s pizzerias. Grab a table and take your pick from made-to-order Neapolitan pizzas topped with the likes of soppressata sausage and hot honey, or gorgonzola and sweet fig preserve.

Gelato on Princess Cruises

At our gelato parlours

There’s no finer scoop than gelato: the smooth churn, creamy milk and variety of flavours. In 2022, the Italian Chamber of Commerce certified our ships Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess and Sky Princess as the first and only locations to offer an authentic Italian gelato experience outside of Italy. Now available on Sun Princess and Star Princess too, the delicious gelato at our onboard parlours is made fresh daily and available on a pay-as-you-go basis. You could treat yourself to the simple perfection of pistachio in a waffle cone, or go all-out with tiramisu gelato in an affogato sundae – with plenty of nuts, wafers and chocolate sauce, obviously.

At one of our many bars

Of course, Italy is known for its fantastic drinks, too, so don’t neglect the Aperol spritzes come aperitivo time. A crisp, cold glass of Gavi di Gavi wine with your fritto misto is a must, and a juicy Primitivo red makes a delightful partner for meaty, tomato-based pasta. If you’ve opted for Princess Plus or Princess Premier, your drinks allowance also includes plenty of refreshing poolside options – ice-cold bottles of Italian lager ahoy!

Has all that whet your appetite?
