If you and your partner are dreaming of an exotic getaway, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to the Caribbean Islands. From sipping cocktails on white, sandy beaches to exploring lush rainforests and dramatic waterfalls, this part of the world is perfect for a romantic, relaxing holiday. Whether you’re a total newbie to the Caribbean or are a seasoned visitor wanting to explore somewhere new, we’ve rounded up five of the best Caribbean islands for couples.

The Pitons in St. Lucia

St. Lucia

There’s a reason why St. Lucia is a popular honeymoon spot – with its stunning mix of gorgeous beaches and diverse landscapes, this island is one of the prettiest in the Caribbean. If you and your loved one are adventurous types, then spend a couple’s day out hiking around the Pitons (two 2,000-feet-high, UNESCO-listed volcanic spires in the south-west of the island) or ziplining through luscious rainforest. For something less high-octane, however, why not explore the island’s cacao farms and award-winning chocolate producers. Chocolate is supposedly a natural aphrodisiac after all… Alternatively, you could hit the beach, where you can embark on a romantic horseback ride along the shore with Princess.

Grenada

There’s something for everyone on Grenada, a beautiful island located on the eastern edge of the Caribbean Sea. You can go diving or snorkelling at the unique Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park to see artwork submerged in the sea, or if you and your partner would prefer an aquatic adventure with your heads above the water, book your spot on our glass-bottom kayaking excursion. You’ll see all sorts of marine activity taking place beneath you as you paddle through the turquoise water. The food is fantastic on Grenada, too, so be sure to make a lunchtime pitstop – the island is known as Spice Island thanks to its production of ginger, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon, so you’ll find aromatic dishes such as oil down (a spicy one-pot stew) and curried goat on the menu.

A beach in Antigua

Antigua

If you love nothing more than lazing on a glorious beach, you’ll be pleased to know that Antigua has a whopping 365 of them. Rendezvous Bay Beach is one of the more remote and secluded options, as it’s not easily accessible by car, so getting here requires a hike through the jungle. You’ll be rewarded with a white sandy beach, beautiful views and a lack of crowds – ideal for a romantic beach day with your loved one. Alternatively, take a trip to Stingray City on a Princess shore excursion where you’ll go snorkelling and get to see these fascinating sea creatures up-close.

St. Kitts

Thanks to its picture-perfect beaches, you could easily simply while away the days lounging on a sunbed and listening to the waves lap the shore on St. Kitts. But there’s plenty of exploring to do here, too, especially for green-fingered couples. For a romantic hand-in-hand stroll taking in some of the island’s horticulture, don’t miss the chance to visit the Fairview Great House and Botanical Gardens on a Princess shore excursion. Explore the colourful interior of the historic, traditional West Indian property, built in 1701, before wandering around its manicured grounds that brim with lush, tropical plants.

Barbados

Love a tipple or two? Barbados’ Mount Gay is the world’s oldest rum brand, and its distillery has been producing the soul-warming, spicy spirit since 1703. Consequently, Barbados is known as the birthplace of rum and is the place to sample some. If you and your partner are keen to learn more about the island’s boozy history, book onto a tour of the Mount Gay distillery, but failing that, be sure to enjoy a few hand-shaken rum cocktails at one of the island’s many welcoming beach bars. Cheers!
