A show-stopping icon of the cruise world has joined the Princess fleet. Star Princess had her traditional maritime float out ceremony on 26th September 2024, pictured above with Gennaro Arma, Star Princess Captain; Cristiano Bazzara, Fincantieri Shipyard Director; Chiara Del Vecchio, Sun Princess Madrina; John Padgett, Princess Cruises President; Remco Buis, Princess Cruises Senior Vice President, Marine Operations; Nick Nash, Princess Cruises Commodore and Star Princess Captain. She’s now in the outfitting quay, being dressed to impress with an interior that’s fit for royalty.

Weighing 178,000 tons and with capacity for 4,300 guests, Star Princess is the second Sphere Class ship in our fleet and will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), like her sister ship, Sun Princess.

Sun Princess has been sailing guests around the Mediterranean, and latterly the Caribbean, since February 2024 and all who’ve had the honour of being onboard have been well and truly wowed. With sleek and modern design, revolutionary technology, exciting new onboard venues, and more natural light than any other Princess ships, everything from sipping your morning coffee to enjoying evening entertainment under the stars is extra-special on our Sphere Class ships.

Like Sun Princess, Star Princess, who’s set to make her maiden voyage from Barcelona on 4th October 2025, will offer our ultra-luxurious Sanctuary Collection staterooms. Comprising 80 Suites, 123 Mini-Suites and 12 Premium Deluxe Balconies, our Sanctuary Collection accommodation comes with five-star service, access to a private pool and deck area, an exclusive restaurant, and a unique programme of events, as well as a whole host of VIP extras. Sanctuary Collection guests can also enjoy our Princess Premier all-inclusive package included as part of their fare.

Star Princess will launch with some of her own special features, too. John Padgett, President of Princess Cruises, says: ‘After the overwhelming response to Sun Princess, we are excited to debut Star Princess with added enhancements to elevate the guest experience. From expanded non-smoking casino areas to new spaces for relaxation and recreation, Star Princess will deliver an unforgettable holiday for all when she launches in autumn 2025.’

Exclusive enhancements and additional venues you can expect to see on Star Princess include a bigger and more spacious O’Malley’s Irish Pub, so more guests can enjoy its traditional Irish food, whiskey and live music; an expanded Love by Britto, the speciality venue where fine dining from chef Rudi Sodamin meets masterpieces by artist Romero Britto; a larger non-smoking area in the onboard casino; and a new SkyDeck Sports Court and Track, where active guests can jog and play the likes of pickleball and basketball.

Star Princess in Alaska by glaciers

When it comes to destinations, Star Princess will spend her inaugural summer season in Alaska, marking the first time a Princess Sphere Class ship has sailed the ‘great land’. Here, Star Princess will really come into her own, with her numerous floor-to-ceiling windows and multi-level glass entertainment venue The Dome offering unparalleled views of Alaska’s glaciers and wildlife on every itinerary. Truly magical, indeed.
